Upper limit problems occur when a person doesn’t have confidence that they will succeed much further than the limit they have set for themselves. In their minds, they
have a limit that their life, their job, or their success won’t ever exceed
. Rather than having a mindset where their lives have no limit on success and they can achieve anything with hard work and determination, many people don’t believe they will surpass a certain point. Here are some warning signs you could have an upper limit problem at work.
If you always put limit
on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.

1. You won’t apply for a more senior role
You see other jobs coming up and briefly think you might be able to do them well, but decide you’re better in your current position and level. You talk yourself out of applying for more senior positions – something this is a fear of rejection but in many cases, it is because there is an upper limit problem.
2. You’re scared of being too successful
Some people don’t go for higher jobs or more responsibility because they’re scared of being too successful and overstepping the ‘limit’ they have set for themselves internally. While some people hunger for success and responsibility and can’t wait for their ‘breakthrough moment’, the thought of it fills you with worry and distress. When you have moments of success, you stress about whether or not you deserve it and soon find a way to bring yourself back down within your limit.
3. Your immune system starts to suffer
When things you feel mentally and emotionally start to affect you physically, that’s the point that most people start to sit up and think about how external and internal factors are affecting them and their bodies. For many people with an upper limit problem, they come down with colds, coughs and other health problems if they feel their limit has been met or surpassed.
4. You’re doing so well and then it all goes wrong
You were doing so well and feeling so confident, but now you’re worried you’re going to mess everything up and things will be a disaster. This could happen when you’ve been promoted at work, or when you’ve had a lot of success. This can be exacerbated if you are a perfectionist who feels they need to maintain a high level of success and cannot make any mistakes.
