Trying to sleep is impossible now.  My mid-back is still tweaked and right ankle a bit tender as I play with my favorite trigger point tools to relieve the tension and prepare for what's in store for me less than 12 hours from now.

Tomorrow morning I, along with 79 other individual athletes and 12 teams, will be converging onto CrossFit Amped in Bellevue, Washington for the 1st annual CrossFit Gorilla Games.  By the end of day on December 10th, 2011, we'll know who is the most Amped up male, female and team in the North West.  One word...

Awesome! All athletes will do the first 3 workouts, but only the top 8 will go ahead to the 4th and final WOD.  The first 3 workouts are listed below, but the 4th will not be announced until after the 3rd workout is completed by all competitors.

1st Individual Workout:  AMRAP, 2 Rounds

  • 1 min Row for Calories "1 point per calorie",

  • 1 min Front Squats (95/65) "1 points per squat",

  • 1 min Stone Lift (115lbs/70lbs) "3 points per lift".

  • 1 min rest between rounds

The score is total points earned.

2nd Individual Workout:  Deadlift Ladder; Tabata rounds: 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest

  • Women’s ladder: 155, 170, 185, 200, 215, 230, 245, 260, 275

  • Men’s ladder: 250, 275, 300, 325, 350, 375, 400, 425, 450

We will have 20 seconds to complete 3 lifts, then 10 seconds to rotate to the next lift in the ladder.  We will continue to climb the ladder until we cannot complete 3 lifts within the 20 seconds allotted... I'm hoping my back puts up with the volume.

3rd Individual Workout:  The Triplet, 3 rounds for time

  • Round 1) 3 rope climbs, 400m run, 30 box jumps,

  • Round 2) 2 rope climbs, 400m run, 20 box jumps,

  • Round 3) 1 rope climb, 400m run, 10 box jumps

I will be keeping everyone posted via Facebook and Twitter with continuous updates tomorrow.  Stay tuned and wish me luck!  (I'm gonna need it... ;-)

3, 2, 1, go!
