The O2X Summit Challenge is here. Who's ready to up their game?

Their Summit Challenges launched the company last fall, but O2X is about far more than just the physical ascension of a mountain – it forms the framework for an active, accountable, healthy lifestyle grounded in community engagement, experiential learning, respect for the environment, and a continual journey to push your limits.

Why Am I Excited for the O2X Summit Challenge?

Last fall, nearly 1,000 participants summited mountains in O2X’s Inaugural Summit Series which included four events over the course of six weeks that started in Sugarbush, Vermont and then headed to Sunday River, Maine and Loon Mountain, New Hampshire before rounding out the season at Windham Mountain in New York.

The races were as rugged and challenging as they come - legs screaming for mercy, lungs pounding out of your chest, and that delightful feeling of waking up sore the next day in places that you didn’t know existed. The philosophy behind the course design at each event was simple and brutally primal – the racer against all that Mother Nature had to offer on that given mountain. In an industry where mud, guts and glory have taken a forefront at events with tens of thousands of racers in one weekend, the very nature of the course was a deviation from the norm.

Breaking the Mold - this isn't your normal running event

O2X also didn’t fit into the traditional running world or trail running scene where you showed up, ran your race, and went on your merry way. Each event was an intimate experience for racers, spectators, and the local community. BaseCamp begins on Friday afternoon when racers and spectators arrive to meet the founders, enjoy a beer around a roaring fire and get to know fellow racers. O2X sources local and organic food and beverage vendors as a way to thank those who welcome us into their community and always commits to zero waste – composting and recycling all available materials to reduce municipal waste and leave the mountains in better condition than when we arrived. To keep it simple, O2X abides by the authenticity that we promote by practicing what we preach - setting benchmarks in social responsibility, human performance, and community at large.

Mike Monarch, a Summit Challenger from Loon Mountain, said it best:
Are we nervous about the next O2X race? Yes. Have we signed up anyway? Absolutely. Whether or not you are a CrossFitter, go ahead and give yourself the opportunity to experience what the O2X organizers have put together for you. In addition to the unique and natural obstacle course, you will find a fun and supportive group of people, fantastic pre and post-race festivities, and a personal opportunity to climb higher.
