On Saturday I had the privilege of training with some phenomenal athletes at Fitness Town Crossfit in Burnaby, BC. As a group we accepted the challenge to compete in the Coast-to-Coast Subzero Intergalactic Challenge. A fundraiser first and foremost, but also an amazing opportunity to throw down three amazing workouts with some really good friends.
The workouts, as Rx'd were:
WOD 1: The “SUPER BEAST” (17 minute time-cap)
3 rounds of:
- 30 double unders
- 20 chest-to bar pull-ups
- 10 chest-to-deck burpees
Then complete;
- 10 deadlifts 315 (dropping bar after lockout is permitted);
- 10 clean and jerks 185lbs.
I was 3 C&J's short of finishing the workout.
WOD 2: “CAPTAIN INTENSITY”
Combined score of these two events completed in 10 minutes:
- 4 minutes of rowing for total meters;
- then in the 6 minutes remaining get your 1 rep max front squat.
Notes: athlete has 5 minutes to post best weight lifted taken from rack loaded by the athlete. Total score is reached by adding meters and pounds lifted. The 10 minute time period includes 1 minute transition from rower to squat rack.
I completed 1,176 meters on my row, followed by a 275 front-squat.
My total score for this event was 1451.
WOD 3: “FRANKLIN”
Max reps in 7 minutes of:
- Handstand Push-ups;
- and/or Back Squats 135lbs.
Note that HSPU's are worth 2 points per rep, whereas back squats are only 1 point per rep.
My
score for the workout was 87.
I have some videos going up soon. More to come on that.
