WOD: Balls to the Wall… and the Centurion is born!

18 04 2009

Well after about a week of inactivity I had to blow off some steam.  Tonight, I pushed myself to the brink of puking (but fortunately, not quite over the line).  As I type this my head feels like it is going to explode and the exercise migraine is at its peak, but I had to share my efforts with all of you.

The workout consisted of the following:

  • 8 x 3-minute rounds of skipping, with 30 seconds rest between rounds;
  • Tabata 24″ box jumps wearing a 20lbs vest (my worst round was 8 reps);
  • 100 reps of 135lbs squats for time (my time was 6:52);
  • 100 reps of ab-mat sit-ups for time (my time was 5:49).

All the above was done in succession with no rest between exercises.  Total time from start to finish was about 45 minutes.  I’m exhausted and ready for a beer (LOL!).

I just tried the century exercises on a whim but after tonight I’m going to start to train for 100 reps on a series of exercises.  My plans are to create a workout called the Centurion.  It will be 100 reps of each of the following for time:  Pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, box jumps, and 135lbs squats.  Forget the 300!  Let’s make it the Indy 500…  well I need a goal to train for, so here it is.

I’ll be posting my times as the weeks progress.  Check back for updates and my video diary starting Monday.
